Siabox was built for DIY audio file-sharing between Mac OS X, iPhone, Android, and Windows over LAN. It will turn your Mac into a radio-station server: when you use Siabox to produce your radio station, you can customize your programming with published music from your own collection. Technically, Siabox is a front-end for SHOUTcast DNAS, but not just that; Siabox can also manage memory consumption, task, process id, configuration, sources, start-up and shutdown in a vert OS X-like way. Siabox needs SHOUTcast DNAS (Distributed Network Audio Software) to run properly. The DNAS is a software program that is installed on a network server. All listeners that wish to tune into a SHOUTcast stream connect to the SHOUTcast DNAS. The DNAS is also responsible for updating the SHOUTcast directory with now-playing and other information relevant to the audio stream On first run, Siabox will download and configure DNAS automatically for you. The server still need sources, in other words, information about the location of its streaming media content. Siabox can accept any sources compatible with SHOUTcast, which, on OS X, are numerous. Butt for example for streaming to server by mic, music, or mixer; and LadioCast. Before installing Siabox, please follow guidelines on http://hardy.ioshub.com/siabox.html.
